The villagers of Xidang village in Deqin County, Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, dressed in costumes and held performance on March 22 to celebrate the Shugunisu festival, which falls on the 15th-20th days of the second month according to traditional Tibetan calendar.

Shugunisu, where shugu refers to the oak tree and nisu means recuperation in theTibetan language, is a festival regarding traditional farming method. Before the festival, villagers would have collected the extra oak-tree branches and leaves, which are already turned into high-quality farmyard manure. Therefore, the festival mark the beginning of a recuperation period, when both local farmers and oak trees can be replenished.
