Belvederes built up along highways in Diqing prefecture
Shangri-lanews 2020-03-11 17:05:12

Northwest Yunnan’s Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture has, in recent years, built up belvederes along its secondary highways in an effort to boost tourist services and the one-for-all tourism.

The Shangri-La-Weixi highway winds through river valleys, lake areas, snow peaks and lush forests, with the Jinsha river section presenting drive tourists amazing sights.

When the highway was widened in 2017, the belvederes of Tangman, Jiangdongpo, Jiren River, Shangri-La home, water-curtain cave and dragon pond were built along the road, with toilets and specialty stalls set up nearby.

As of now, 420.8 kilometers of highways in Diqing have been beautified by 2 first-class service areas and 14 belvederes. And another 13 belvederes along the Shangri-La-Deqin highway are under construction.
