Recent online pictures show the colorful flower fields in southwest Yunnan’s Ninger Hani and Yi autonomous county, where the Kunming-Bangkok highway runs from northeast to southwest. The flower fields are said to be located near a toll station of the highway. 

In a bid to be a more beautiful place, Ninger county has stepped up effort in eco-conservation by planting flowers and trees. As a result, local residents are enjoying a pleasant living environment. 

Since its opening over a decade ago, the Kunming-Bangkok highway has injected vigor to local economy and tourism. With the China-Laos railway to be in service next year, which will also pass through the ethnic county, beautiful Ninger will see a brighter future of connectivity to the ASEAN nations. 

The 8.84km Heping tunnel of the railway was holed through in June in Ninger county.
