This year’s first snow hit northwest Yunnan’s Shangri-La City November 7, the day marking the beginning of winter on Chinese lunar calendar.

Breathtaking sceneries in the Shangri-La area include the Meili Snow Mountain, Tiger-Leaping Gorge, Baishui Terraces, and the Shangri-La Grand Canyon.

First seen in a novel named The Lost Horizon by British author James Hilton in 1933, Shangri-La was depicted as a neverland in the secluded southwestern frontier of China.
