Diqing controls traffic in response to potential flood
Shangri-lanews 2018-11-13 12:00:24

Northwest Yunnan’s Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture imposed traffic control over some road sections near the Jinsha River on Monday, given water being discharged from a barrier lake on the border of Sichuan province and the Tibet autonomous region.

The controlled sections involve the Benzilan-Yangla road in Deqin County, the Helong Bridge-Shusong section on the 214 National Highway, the Helong Bridge- Jiangdong Bridge section, and the Nixi River East-Tiger Leaping Gorge road.

The county-level authorities have timely issued notices, warning local river-side residents of potentially dangerous activities, such as fishing and gathering stones and logs in the river.
