Blood-donation month launched in Kunming
Yunnan Gateway 2019-02-21 17:28:17

The 4th Kunming Civil Servants Blood Donation Month was launched on February 20 at the municipal auditorium, in an effort to relieve the strained blood-supply at Kunming Blood Center.

"It’s the fourth time for me to donate my blood, which can be renewed. Life-saving is always urgent, so I will continue giving my blood to those in need as long as I’m healthy," said Liu Guohua, deputy researcher of the Policy Research Office of Kunming Municipal Party Committee.

Since 2016, the blood-donation activity led by local civil servants has been held for four consecutive years in Kunming, capital city of Yunnan Province. In 2018, more than 4,800 joined the activity that is beneficial to the general public.

“Every day, we need 500 to contribute their blood to meet the blood-transfusion need in nearly 300 hospitals across Kunming.” Che Zhongmin, deputy director of Kunming Blood Center, said that the (dry) weather, as well as the recent droves of returned college students and migrant workers, caused the strained blood-supply.

The blood-donation event is hosted by Kunming Municipal Party Committee and Kunming Municipal People's Government.
