The first 5G videocall of Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture was made on May 30 at the Feilai Temple belvedere, which faces the lofty Meili snow mountain in the prefecture's Deqin County.

During  the call, a Deqin official spoke to general manager of the p la nning and construction department of the Kunming-based China Mobile Yunnan Company, thanking the company for their 5G information service.

"The 5G net is much faster that the 4G. Whatever direction the mobile phone is moved toward, the picture is still of high definition, and the voice can be heard clearly without delay,” said Wang Dui, a Deqin native who witnessed the video call.

The first trial 5G base station in Diqing prefecture was launched on February 20.
