Beijing calls on U.S. to keep its promise to lift ban on Huawei
CGTN 2019-07-18 16:01:18

China is urging the U.S. to stop putting unreasonable pressure on Chinese companies and keep its promise of lifting the ban on Huawei.

It comes as U.S. lawmakers have introduced bills to keep tight restrictions on the Chinese telecommunications giant.

"China and the U.S. business cooperation is a win-win situation," Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said on Wednesday. "President Trump said in his meeting with President Xi Jinping in Osaka that he would allow American companies to continue supplying Huawei. How and when the US side fulfills its promises is related to its credibility."

China hopes that the U.S. immediately stops unreasonable sanctions against Chinese enterprises such as Huawei and treats Chinese enterprises in a fair and non-discriminatory manner, Geng added.

"We hope that America can contribute to healthy and stable development of trade cooperation rather than setting obstacles."
