18,396 in Shangri-La covered by medical insurance

All of the poverty-stricken population of 18,396 in Shangri-La City, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, has been covered by medical insurance. Now it is easy for them to pay the medical cost and have their diseases cured, and they will not be likely to return to poverty due to illness.


 

Up to now, 17,799 of the 18,396 previously poverty-stricken residents with specially established archives have been raised out of poverty, with the remaining 597 included into the medical-insurance scheme.  

  

Under the scheme, local patients can patients pay for the medical examinations or treatment services after having the fees reimbursed. And the one-stop service has greatly helped the poor rural residents in seeing the doctor.
