A photography exhibition on present-day China's Tibet Autonomous Region opened here on Thursday to promote people-to-people exchanges between China and Mongolia, and celebrate the 70th anniversary of bilateral ties.

This exhibition titled "China's Tibet -- New Look and New Development," which runs until Oct. 19, is the result of a ten-day reporting trip by eight Mongolian journalists to Lhasa and Nyingchi cities in Tibet last month.

"Many Mongolian friends have expressed their willingness to know more about Tibet," said Chinese Ambassador to Mongolia Xing Haiming at the opening ceremony. "Therefore, we invited the journalists to visit Tibet."

The ambassador expressed the hope that the exhibition will further enhance the warm atmosphere of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mongolia and the friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.

"The exhibition is part of a series of cultural events to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two countries," said Mongolian Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Yondonperenlei Baatarbileg.

"I am confident that thanks to this exhibition, Mongolians can have a better understanding of the development, history and culture of China's Tibet," Baatarbileg said.
