Shangri-La int’l trail running held in Tiger-Leaping Gorge

The First Shangri-La International Trail Running was held in the Tiger-Leaping Gorge scenic area in Shangri-La City on October 27.


 

Runner from the China, United States, Malaysia and others joined in the cross-county race, trekking through one of a most challenging route in the world.


With an elevation difference of more than 2,000 meters, the breathtaking running route is located in the junction area of Shangri-La City and Lijiang City on the upper reaches of the Jinsha River. It is 98 kilometers from downtown Shangri-La.




In the end, Chinese runner Li Bo won the 50 km race for men with a timing of 4 hours 58 minutes and 45 seconds, while Zheng Wenrong secured the women's title with a time of 7 hours 16 minutes and 43 seconds.

 

The Shangri-La trail running is hosted by the Cultural and Tourism Bureau of Diqing Prefecture and the Diqing Tourism Group. The mountaineers’ clubs in Nepal and Malaysian co-organized the event.
