Yunnan province raised 1.368 million rural residents out of poverty in 2019, with 3,005 villages in 33 counties removed from the impoverished list, said Huang Yunbo, head of the provincial poverty-alleviation office at a TV conference Monday.

The per capita net income of farmers in Yunnan’s poverty-stricken areas rose from 2,744.43 yuan in 2015 to 9,294.49 yuan in 2019, added Huang.

The poverty rate in 8 ethnic autonomous prefectures has dropped from 10.58% to 0.86% in the same period, with that in 29 ethnic autonomous counties going down from 12.17% to 0.53%.

By the end of 2019, the extremely impoverished population has been reduced by 95%, contributing to winning the national battle against poverty this year.
