english.yunnan.cn 2020-05-09 11:53:41

As the summer comes, temperature begins to rise. Meanwhile, hundreds of acres of terraced rice fields in southwest Yunnan’s Ximeng Wa autonomous county has unveiled their beauty to visitors.

Since ancient time, the dwellers in this area have been cultivating rice on terraced fields being built on sloping ground, which aids in storing water and reducing the risks of land erosion.

Located in hilly and mountainous areas, terraced rice fields in Yunnan can be divided into various categories, depending on the geographic settings nearby.

They are not only a gift of the nature, but a true reflection of local people’s unbelievable wisdom and diligence.
