Coqen County develops e-commerce to increase income

In recent years, Coqen County, Ngari Prefecture, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region has carried out comprehensive demonstration work of e-commerce in its rural areas, promoting herdsmen's income growth.



By the end of 2019, through e-commerce platforms, offline experience stores, trade fairs, etc., Coqen County has achieved the sales of more than 31 million yuan RMB, including 25 million yuan RMB from selling livestock products as well as 6 million yuan RMB from selling featured goods such as golden purple velvet products, skin care products, Zhari Namco Tibetan incense, handicrafts and so on. At the same time, the county has cooperated with Ngari Prefecture to build the first e-commerce village in Mentong, opening up local market of characteristic commodities and bringing economic benefits to herdsmen.


In the process of promoting e-commerce, the county has established a county-level public service center, offline experience centers of golden purple velvet and other featured products, as well as12 village-level e-commerce service stations. It has also carried out 34 e-commerce special training courses, and distributed over 2,500 copies of Tibetan-Chinese bilingual publicity materials to the masses, which has constantly improved their understanding and application of e-commerce, bringing more convenience to their daily lives, too.


In addition, according to actual situation of local characteristic products, the county has applied unified product creation and traceability system construction to some local enterprises, promoted products on platforms like Taobao and relevant exhibitions.


In addition, Coqen County has successfully signed a cooperation agreement with Ngari Branch of China Post to build a new logistics transfer center in Saga County of Xigaze, so that all postal express and e-commerce goods in the county can be directly delivered to Lhasa within one to two days.
