Yunnan Gateway 2020-08-05 15:50:22

Following instructions by president Xi Jinping during his visit to Yunnan in early 2020, the CPC Yunnan provincial committee and government recently issued the decision on accelerating construction of the modern industrial system.

The decision aims to cultivate industries each worth one trillion or 100-billion yuan, integrate domestic and international industries, upgrade Yunnan's industries and speed up high-quality development. By 2035, Yunnan will basically achieve industrial modernization, strong in economic performance.

The five trillion-RMB industries to be developed in Yunnan include advanced manufacturing, cultural tourism, plateau agriculture, modern logistics and health service. Eight industries will each reach the output value of around 100 billion yuan, and they involve clean energy, digital economy, biomedicine, new materials, environmental protection, financial services, real estate and tobacco.

Over the past years, Yunnan has identified eight pillar industries and three world-class ones. In 2025, added value of the industries will account for over 60% of Yunnan GDP, contributing more than 60% to the provincial economic growth.

By 2035, the three world-class industries of green food, clean energy and health tourism will be industrial signatures of Yunnan, and the province will be an industrial pivot in the tri-junction of southwest China, Southeast Asia and South Asia.
