E-commerce brings global shopping into reality
Yunnan Gateway 2020-11-03 18:02:25

The Golden Gate International Shopping Center, as a venue featuring cross-border e-commerce primarily, lies in the Kunming Area of China (Yunnan) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

It focuses on bringing quality products from all over the world to consumers in Yunnan with relatively low prices.

Rare red wines from France, formula milk from Australia and New Zealand, spices and soft drinks from Thailand as well as cosmetics from South Korea can all be encountered inside this shopping center.

According to Wei Shujie, the deputy general manager, Golden Gate is the first ever shopping center in Yunnan that combines cross-border e-commerce and bonded goods together.

“Here, the price of one formula milk I’ve been looking for is 20% lower than elsewhere. And there’s an additional offer of ‘buy 6 get 1 free’, which just surprises me,” said a customer.

“Because we have closely contacts with exporters overseas and the majority of things being sold in our shopping center are free of duty, customer can purchase quality imported products with genuinely low prices,” said Wei.

“Some local shop runners have even been buying large quantities of products from us as if we are a wholesaler,” added she, smiling.

Wei also emphasized that the shopping center aims at providing a quick and easy access of products from all around the globe to every consumer in Yunnan.

“I can’t believe that the cosmetics here are cheaper than all online shopping platforms l’ve looked up,” said one tourist from Jiangsu province.

“Every person has his or her understanding of ‘Xiaokang society’. To me, Xiaokang means working well, living a healthy life and in the meantime being able to buy whatever I’d like to buy.”
