Shangri-lanews 2019-02-25

On the 10th day of the second lunar month each year (March 16 in 2019), the Naxi people in Dongba Village of Sanba Township, Shangri-La City, gather to pay tribute to Mt. Baishan, praying for health, safety and good weather.

During the ritual, singing, folk dance, bull fighting and horse races are held at the Baishan mountain which has been worshipped for thousands of years.

With a Naxi population of around 10,000, Sanba is the only Naxi township in Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture.
