Shangri-lanews 2019-07-01

Falling under the jurisdiction of Shangri-La City in northwest Yunnan, Jinjiang Town is located in the upper reaches of the Jinsha River, with pleasant climate and rich produces.

Typical scenic areas in Jinjiang include the First Bend of Yangtze River, the Wuzhu dragon pond, the Xiasuoyi waterfall, as well as some islets in the middle of the Jinsha river.

During the Long March in mid 1930s, the Red Army marched through the Jinsha river side town, leaving quite a few revolutionary sites in association with some battles and key meetings there.

Traditional ethnic heritages and customs in Jinjiang feature the Chezhou rock paintings, the Reba dance, local folk culture and art festivals, the Kuoshi festival in Xinglong village, and the Huashan festival.
