Shangri-lanews 2019-11-27

A delegation from Jiuzhaigou County, Sichuan Province visited Shangri-La City, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, and the two sides signed a framework agreement on cooperation in developing tourism and more.

During their stay, the Jiuzhaigou delegation visited the Songzanlin scenic area, the Shambhala park, and the Shangri-La planning museum. At an ensuing symposium, the two sides reached a consensus that Shangri-La City and Jiuzhaigou County are both well-known tourist destinations in Tibetan areas.

Similar in culture and development level, the two places will strengthen friendly exchanges and cooperation in culture, talent training, tourism projects and others, while establishing closer cooperative relations for common economic prosperity and social progress.

Located in the north of Sichuan Province, Jiuzhaigou County is home to the famed Jiuzhaigou National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its spectacular waterfalls, lush forests and serene plateau lakes.

On Aug 8, 2017, a 7.0-magnitude quake forced the closure of the Jiuzhaigou scenic area, but now it has resumed service after a two-year renovation, attracting visitors from around the world.
