Pictures taken by Yunnan Daily reporters show various merry-making activities at the lakeside Haigeng Park in Kunming, Yunnan province on January 1, the New Year's Day.

Apart from feeding the red-billed gulls that jubilantly flew for food, holiday goers were also seen taking helicopter tours, admiring the hill-lake sights, driving off-road vehicles, and more.
